Freedom School Camp at the Two Mississippi Museums

Students in grades 6-8 are invited to enroll in the new Freedom School Summer Camp program, July 5-15, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Two Mississippi Museums. Inspired by the original freedom schools during the Mississippi Freedom Summer Project of 1964, students will be immersed in Mississippi civil rights history, learn from stories of local activists in their communities, and engage in activities that will empower students with a better understanding of the civil rights movement and its significance in social change. Students will also engage on field trips to historic civil rights sites such the Medgar and Myrlie Evers Home National Monument, COFO Civil Rights Education Center, and Tougaloo College. Registration fee is $100 and includes lunch with snacks. Space is limited to twenty participants.
